Whether you’re into comic books or not, you have to admit that most people really like Batman, who is the well-known hero of Gotham City in the northeastern part of the United States. Even though Gotham City is filled with dangerous criminals, when it comes to the Dark Knight’s biggest and most serious enemy, there are only two names that come to mind. Any guesses? These two men don’t need any more introductions. That’s right folks. On one side there’s the Joker, who is really bad, mean, and crazy, and on the other side there’s Bane, the big monster known just as “Bane” with his special coat. Bane first appeared in *Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1* back in January 1993 and has been one of Batman’s toughest enemies, both in strength and intelligence. He is often given credit for being the only villain who actually “broke the bat,” meaning he literally snapped the back of our caped crusader in half… Ouch… That’s going to hurt!!
Since then, the masked freak of nature has appeared in several Batman animated movies, comics, and TV shows. Bane is not someone who can be easily tricked or controlled. Wearing his usual Bane costume, mask, and having venomous pipes all over his body, he has repeatedly caused fear and suffering to those who get in his way. Recently, the masked villain had his own movie debut in Christopher Nolan’s big hit, The Dark Knight Rises, which helped make the character even more famous.
Bane, played by Tom Hardy, is seen as one of Batman’s biggest and most dangerous enemies. He not only finds out the truth about the person behind Batman’s mask, Bruce Wayne, but also hurts him in the ways he thinks are needed. Just seeing him wearing the mask and his long, famous “Bane coat” from the movie is enough to give you chills down your spine. If you think that’s all there is to this masked villain, think again. He’s not just scary; Bane is also very cunning and has excellent skills in planning and leading strategies. In one of the comics, while he was in prison, Bane created his own special exercises, meditation techniques, and a unique fighting style that he used to fight not just Batman, but also other famous martial artists in the DC Universe.
If you really like this super-villain as much as I do, you should check out this awesome collection of Bane Coats.
